The mata mata is one weird-looking turtle. All photos are from the Columbus Zoo.
It's got a huge mouth (video). One time I saw it open, along that line below the nose and eyes.
How bizarre looking. I did not even know what I was looking at at first. Nice pictures revealing weird nature.
nice colors Steve, I might want that 2nd one to put in a frame. It's so alive. That's a snapping turtle correct ?
All I can say for certain is it's a mata mata. I'm thinking it's not a snapping turtle.
